Ego ready to take on the world

In the last two years I’ve been putting food on the table and paying the rent via freelancing. I’ve done this as a freelance journalist, writer, photographer and speaker. In addition I’ve worked with IT in the form of development, lectures, user training and system analysis. First and foremost with collaborative solutions, but also with other IT solutions, and efficient use of email and calendar. I will still be doing this, but my career as a 100% freelancer will now come to an end.

IBM Buys Red Hat For $34 Billion

IBM and Red Hat announced Sunday evening that IBM is buying Red Hat for $34 billion. The world’s cloud landscape is now totally changed, and IBM will now be the biggest cloud and hybrid provider in the world!

The superlatives and positive messages about the Norwegian user group’s (ISBG) launch of IBM/Notes Domino V10 in Norway yesterday has been pouring in all morning. As the leader of ISBG, this makes me immensely happy. And it gives bright hope for the future, and we will use this momentum when we’ve now started preparing for the spring seminar. A little under two weeks ago I attended the LION 18 conference in Chicago. LION is short for Local Independent Online News and is an organisation for local news sites. Little did I know all the reactions I would get when I tweeted my surprise over how in bed Facebook is with local news sites and newspapers in the US.

IBM Notes Application Running in Office 365

Yesterday IBM Notes/Domino V10 was unveiled to the world in the first of a whole series of launch events around the world. We in the Norwegian user group, in cooperation with IBM, is doing the Norwegian launch in Oslo October 23rd. One of the biggest features (among a whole list of cool features like auto repair, Domino Query language etc) is that you now can use Node.js to develop solutions for the Domino platform. And ISW has now done something awesome that can give your Notes app increased life, even if your company has moved to Office 365.

Google has announced that they are shutting down Google+ for consumers. The biggest surprise for me isn’t that they are shutting down what was their attempt to create a competitor to Facebook. The surprise for me is that Google+ actually still exists.
