I’m freshly shaven and got a haircut today. I’m now ready for six weeks of summer holiday. Turns out that the university wants me to take out all the holiday and lost time I have left before I resign from my position as Communication advisor on August 31st.
Three years ago I wrote that a new volume of my life was being written. Now I’m starting on the next chapter.
You see, I’m leaving my current job, just a day shy from having had that job for exactly 3 years. Am I leaving the Arctic too? Nope! My place of work will still be in Bodø, with two days a week being set aside for my home office in Fauske. My new job is being the Microsoft 365 strategist for Arva. The company owns the power lines in huge parts of Nordland County, as well as big parts of Troms and Finnmark County.
My job will be to find the best strategy for user adoption when it comes to their Microsoft 365 portfolio. The company has a very diverse user base, where some people are working out in the field, while others are in a typical office environment. I will also be responsible for training users, create documentation, teaching material (video, articles, presentations and so on), set up power apps, do some coding and to help with user support for the M365 portfolio. This means I’m going back to what I used to do before joining the university. Although now it will be exclusively Microsoft.
I will of course continue doing journalistic and photo assignments. Although, I guess that my friends in the Notes/Domino community will say I’ve joined the dark side completely now, I still have a customer who gives me Notes/Domino work from time to time, and I think I will keep on doing that as a side gig whenever it happens.
Apart from Moldejazz, I have no plans for the next six weeks and I can’t wait! Have a nice summer and enjoy your holiday!
